* In 2008 a team consisting entirely of NTFL players represented Tasmania in an
Australian Amateur Football Council Under 23’s match at Devonport against Western Australia.
Tasmania (NTFL) lost by nine points.
This was the starting point for Tasmania’s involvement in the AAFC competition with both the
NTFA and SFL joining the NTFL’s initiative and being part of the concept over eight years until 2016 when as a result of a lack of sponsorship and negative feelings from at least one other state, players at a regional level could no longer proudly represent their state.
Tasmania played Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria with the highlight of its involvement being the surprising victory by 21 points over W.A. in Perth in 2013 and a carnival win over S.A. in that state in 2011.
It can be proudly said: The NTFL “drove Tasmania’s involvement with the AAFC”
** 2011 NTFL 24. 20 164 defeated NTFL 9.7. 62.
Highest NTFL rep. game score and greatest margin (103 points)
